VA Health Care Systems in Northern California

BL00001A.gif (2386 bytes) The San Francisco VA Medical Center, or "Ft. Miley" as it is known to native San Franciscans, is the major referral care center serving the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California.

The Medical Center provides quality and state-of-the-art medical, surgical, neurological and psychiatric in patient and outpatient care to over 200,000 veterans residing in Northern California. In addition, the Medical Center serves as an important diagnostic referral center for veterans throughout the Western Region. In conjunction with the University of California at San Francisco Medical School it provides medical training to physicians in virtually all specialties and subspecialties.

The Medical Center complex has a 344 bed general medical and surgical inpatient facility as well as a 120 bed Nursing Home Care Unit. The grounds cover approximately 29 acres and include 26 buildings. The Medical Center was opened in 1934 and has grown through numerous additions and modernization's over the years.
